IN THE STUDIO.

Hey Everyone, it’s Marlene :)

Alicia and I just finished recording at the fabulous, Radius Recording, in Traverse City, MI. We’ve been working on the new All-Girl Boys Choir album – Electric. Our mission, 7 songs...3 days.

We arrived early on Thursday morning, after a 3-hour drive in 10 inches of snow (welcome to Michigan), met with our incredible engineer, Andy Van Guilder, set up quickly, and dove into a 12-hour session, without a break...or food!!

On the first day, we finished most of the guitars and bass...guitars (as everyone knows) are the most fun parts to record. With the combination of the very cool, enormous, open space at Radius and our Vox amps – we got some really great sounds.

Friday was another 12-hour session with Alicia pounding out the drum tracks in about an hour!! and vocals...the LEAST fun part. (neither of us are fans) and still no food. Why didn’t we stop for food????!

Saturday morning, we said goodbye to our wonderful hosts in Traverse City and headed in to the studio to finish up vocals and do some rough mixes of the songs. It felt great to relax for a minute and hear the ROCK come alive. Thanks to Joey Callahan (Radius), Andy & Brandi (Halohorn), Karen & Pete for your help.

  1. Hello from Alberta,
That studio looks like a great space for creativity and big acoustics. I am looking forward to the new album with great anticipation, ladies.

After seeing those photos you posted on facebook Sunday I would love to someday ask you about the contents of your effects tickle trunk without feeling I am being intrusive, Marlene.
